Ellen Airhart is a writer and dirt enthusiast. She writes about emergency preparedness and sanitation for Wirecutter, as well as stories about ecology and infrastructure for other publications like WIRED, Popular Science, The New York Times and Texas Monthly.
She is head of the plant committee of her community garden in Brooklyn and volunteers with the organization Girls Write Now. She is an alum of the science, health and environmental reporting master’s program at NYU. In her free time, she lifts weights, reads and ambles around New York City.
